Our app is designed to act as a digital neighborhood watch—monitoring your activity, not your life. 1. The “Mao Mao” Promise: What We DO NOT Collect

To build a foundation of trust, we want to be absolutely clear about what we do not do:

  • No Content Snooping: We do not read your text messages, listen to your phone calls, or see what websites you visit.

To provide our “Digital Heartbeat” service, we only collect the minimum amount of data necessary:

  • Account Information: When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and phone number to verify your identity and facilitate connection with your Care Circle.
  • Activity Data (“Blinks”): We monitor basic, system-level device interactions (such as unlocking your screen, step counts, or general app usage). We only record the timestamp of these interactions to reset your 24-hour safety window. We do not record the content of the activity.
  • Care Circle Connections: We store the contact information of the family and friends you invite to your Care Circle to enable mutual monitoring and emergency alerts.
  • Device Information: We collect basic device data, such as your operating system (iOS/Android), push notification tokens, and battery level, to ensure our server-side monitoring functions correctly.
  • Payment Information: If you upgrade to a paid tier (Cat, Family, or Lifetime), your payments are processed securely by third-party processors (Apple App Store, Google Play, or Stripe). We do not store your full credit card number.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your data strictly to keep you safe and keep your Care Circle informed:

  • To maintain your “Digital Heartbeat” and server-side countdown.
  • To send automated push notifications, emails, or alerts to your Care Circle if your activity stops.
  • To facilitate in-app communications or emergency video/audio calls (via Agora) if you trigger the SOS feature.
  • To provide customer support and improve the stability of the app.

4. Third-Party Integrations and Ads

To keep our free “Kitten” tier accessible to everyone, we use third-party advertising networks (such as Google AdMob or AppLovin) to display a daily brief ad.

  • These ad networks may collect device identifiers (like Apple’s IDFA or Google’s Advertising ID) to serve relevant ads. You can opt out of personalized tracking in your device’s native settings.
  • We use secure third-party services like Agora to power the “Voice SOS” video/audio feature. Data transmitted during these emergency calls is encrypted and not recorded or stored by us.

5. Data Security & Server-Side Monitoring

Your peace of mind is our priority. We utilize end-to-end encryption for sensitive data transmissions and comply with GDPR data handling standards. Because Still Blinking? relies on server-side monitoring, your “Blink” timestamps are securely transmitted to our servers so that the countdown can continue even if your phone battery dies.

6. Your Privacy Rights (GDPR & CCPA)

Depending on where you live (including the European Economic Area, the UK, and California), you have specific rights regarding your personal data:

  • The Right to Access: You can request a copy of the data we hold about you.
  • The Right to Deletion: You can delete your account and all associated Care Circle data at any time directly within the app settings.
  • The Right to Opt-Out: You can pause your “Blink” sharing at any time using the in-app privacy toggle without leaving your Care Circle.

7. Children’s Privacy

Still Blinking? is intended for use by adults and families. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 (or 16 in certain European jurisdictions) without explicit parental consent.

We may update this policy as we add new features (like the upcoming Tiger tier). We will notify you of any significant changes via the app or email.
